H&M looks beyond metros and plans to enter new cities for more stores

Multinational brand Hennes and Mauritz(H&M) will be opening four new stores in different cities of India. Reportedly, the brand will be inaugurating stores in Indore on 16 September, in Coimbatore on 22nd September, in Kolkata on 23rd September and in Amritsar on 30th September.

H&M is one of the most trending brands among all teens and college students increasing the demand for the brand.

The company said that it will be having around 25 stores in India by the end of 2017.

“H&M is currently operating stores in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Mohali, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune. We also believe there is a huge opportunity in the tier-II and tier-III market to open stores and will continue our endeavours towards the same,” said a spokesperson from the company.

The brand has catchy as well as basic stuff, suiting all kinds keeping in mind the affordable price and so, it has become one of the best selling brands in the country.

But with its rapid escalation in the market, it has the two big competitors as well, The Spanish brand, Zara owned by Amancio Ortega and the American fashion retailer Forever 21, franchised by Aditya Birla Group.

H&M’s first store was opened in Delhi in the year 2015.

The upcoming stores will retail women’s, men’s, teenagers and children’s apparels & accessories, footwear and lingerie.

Currently, H&M operates 17 stores in India.
