The fashion industry has a huge impact on our world today. Being one of the biggest industries, it comes as no surprise that 1 out of 6 people alive today work in some part of the world’s fashion industry, where we have greed and power on one side, fear, and poverty on the other side.
As a consumer, we communicate who we are, to a certain extent, through the clothes we are wearing. The clothes are our chosen skin, our personal communication. Every new fashion season reinvents the idea of fashion, and new trends are born. This also means that the clothes from last season will be thrown out.
Fashion is an important part of us, not only because of how the world sees us but also the way we perceive ourselves with what we wear and put on.
In a way it makes us different, makes us stand out amongst the crowd and also serves as a public image which to most of is very important.
The world of fashion isn’t only about clothes but a lot of other things like makeup etc.
The never-ending universe of fashion is immense and certain people have become the image of this industry as we see it.
Some of the most influential people Anna Wintour, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Kim Kardashian etc, have become the face of the industry in the 21st century.
Although these individuals have worked hard to climb on to the top of the fashion society, it would be wrong to say that they’re continuing to do so by themselves.
They are helped by several professionals to help them maintain their stature in the competitive world of fashion. One example of such a professional is Mario Dedivanovic. Not a lot of us may be familiar with this name, but Kim surely is.
Mario is Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist, and if you know Kim and the kind of image she has in the fashion industry then you’d surely want to know about Mario Dedivanovic.
He’s been Kim’s longtime makeup artist and who is responsible for almost every signature look she’s worn. Contouring? Him. Her nude lips? Of course him.
Raised in NYC by Albanian immigrant parents, Mario has undoubtedly become one of the most famous makeup artists in the world and here’s everything you need to know about him, how he started working with Kim and his relationship with Kim and hubby Kanye West.
Kim and Mario met an entire decade ago, when he was hired to do her makeup for a cover shoot.
After their first meeting, Mario said, “She just loved the makeup I did for that shoot so much, she kept asking what I was using throughout the entire process, and she was taking selfies nonstop”.
This was right around the time when her fame started to pick up nationally in the U.S. After the shoot, she asked me if I would take her makeup shopping to buy everything I’d used so she could take it to L.A. for her makeup artist to use.
I took her makeup shopping, we went to Henri Bendel and bought a few things that I’d used on her on the shoot that day.
They first met on April 5th 2008 and exactly 10 years later their first makeup collaboration is launching. After a decade of being Beauty BFFs, Kim and Mario launched their first collaboration, KKWxMario.
The eyeshadow palette, in particular, has all the shades needed to recreate Kim’s most iconic beauty look. Before teaming up with Kim, Mario debuted a collaboration with Anastasia Beverly Hills dubbed the Master Palette by Mario. The line was a limited edition, which tragically means you can’t buy it anymore.
Back in the days of yore, Mario worked as a freelance makeup artist for Fox News. His mission? To make anchors like Megyn Kelly camera-ready.
“That’s where I really learned how to work together with a hairstylist and get it done,” he once said. “I’d be doing liquid liner while they’d be blowing their hair out, so I really learned a lot from that experience.” Mario’s first job out of high school was as a Sephora fragrance consultant. But he quickly realized that beauty was greater than scent.
“They put me by the door to say, ‘Welcome to Sephora!’ to every single person,” he said. “Because I was near the door, there was like a lipstick gondola nearby, and women would ask questions.
I just started giving them advice even though I wasn’t supposed to. I quickly became obsessed with makeup and began to research and study it after work.
“Mario has followed in Kim’s illustrious reality-TV footsteps thanks to a hosting gig on Glam Masters, which in case you aren’t aware is an extremely fun makeup competition on Lifetime.
Mario imparts his beauty wisdom on us mere mortals during his Master Classes, which are packed full of advice and tons of free products.
Sometimes Kim even joins! Kim’s influence on contemporary beauty cannot be overstated, and every look she’s made iconic can be traced back to Mario—specifically contouring and baking. “Contouring to me is not so much about sculpting; it’s about enhancing,” Mario told a magazine.
“It’s a very individual process, some people look best with just the lightest touch, while others can take a lot of dramatic makeup without it looking over the top.
“Mario doesn’t exclusively work with Kim, just like she doesn’t exclusively work with him. The MUA has tons of other celebrity clients, including Jennifer Lopez, Chrissy Teigen, Priyanka Chopra, Demi Lovato, Gabrielle Union, and others.
